Buyers

Buying a used electric vehicle (EV) from a private seller can seem daunting, but with the right steps, you can make sure everything goes smoothly. Here’s a simple guide to help you through the process:

Step 1:

Find your EV

Find What You Want: Research different EV’s using our easy filters. Search by brand, model, mileage, exterior color and so on.

Step 2:

Privately and securely Contact the Seller You have many ways of contacting the sellers (depending on the seller).
Connect via phone call, text, email, video chat. To get the seller contact information you will need to create a free account with BestEVforsale

Step 3:

Negotiate an awesome deal! Ask the seller about the car’s condition, any accidents, service records, and whether there’s still a warranty. If a CarFax is provided with the listing make sure to read it!

If you are buying an EV within driving distance, schedule a Test Drive: Meet the seller in a public place and test drive the car. Test the car’s range, battery health, and other features (e.g., regenerative braking, infotainment system). • Get a Professional Inspection: If you’re unsure about the condition of the car, hire a mechanic familiar with EVs to perform an inspection.

Step 4:

Discuss payment and delivery options with seller.

We recommend using an Escrow Company. For a secure transaction, you can use a service like KeySavvy.com or Escrow.com These services hold the money until both parties fulfill the terms of the sale, providing security for both buyer and seller.

For the transportation there are many options available by doing a quick internet search. One of them is www.readylogistics.com But we recommend you do your own research and find yourself the best available deal.

Step 5:

Title Transfer • Review the Title: Make sure the seller has a clean title (make sure the Title does not have a Salvage, Rebuilt, or Junk designation). Check for liens: A lien is placed on the vehicle if it was used as collateral for a loan, which means the seller may still owe money on it. • You can check for liens by contacting the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or using a third-party service like CARFAX, which provides vehicle history reports. Many states also allow you to check lien information through their DMV website or by calling directly.Check that the name on the title matches the name on the seller’s ID. Sign the Title: Both you and the seller will need to sign the title according to your state’s DMV rules. Ask the seller to provide a Bill of Sale (check the local DMV for guidelines).
